can't use Ultrascope or Media Express with BMPC4K over Thund

PostWed Mar 04, 2015 11:57 pm

It seems that the Thunderbolt connection on my BMPC4K isn't working anymore.
last month I had a studio shooting and I recorded straight to my macbookpro over thunderbolt without any problems.
yesterday I tried the same but the camera wasn't seen by the system.
here's what I tried:

- tried 2 different Thunderbolt cables
- tried on a Retina Macbook Pro and on a 2013 Mac Pro
- tried updating the BMPC4K to latest firmware
- tried with AC power
- tried with and without SSD in the camera
- tried Ultrascope, MediaExpress, Premiere, Scopebox
- tried changing every setting on camera (format, framerate, output, etc.)

none of the above combination would make it.
the camera isn't seen at all.
can anyone tell me if this is software-related or if the Thunderbolt port on my camera just fried or something?
thanks!

If you roll back to a previous firmware version, are you getting the same results?

would I get any troubles in doing so?
everything else in the camera works perfectly, I don't want to mess things up.
which version would you recommend trying?

Once everything is hooked up, change the frame rate on the camera, then change it back to what you originally set it to. That is what I have to do to get this to work.

You shouldn't have any troubles with rolling back to a previous firmware. If you're at the most current update, I would suggest going back 1 at a time to see when you run into the issue you're having.

I'm having the EXACT same problem.
Ultra Scope only works when I set the frame rate to 25fps and full HD.
I'm almost sure I have used it with the camera shooting 4k before.
Is it a bug from the last camera update?
