I'm using the new UltraStudio MiniRecorder converting HD SDI to Thunderbolt for capture in FCP7. This is sharing the thunderbolt with a G-RAID 4Tb Thunderbolt drive which I am writing the media I capture to. I'm on a MacBook Pro, running mountain lion, with 16GB Ram and a SSD operating drive.
I have noticed that when I have the BlackMagic UltraStudio Mini-Recorder plugged in it causes serious performance issues with my drive. Video and Audio is playing severely out of sync in FCP, and slips further out of sync has I play along the time line. The video and audio source clips are definitely in sync and when I export the edit it is all in sync, but playback in FCP is way off! As soon as I unplug the mini box from the Thunderbolt port on the drive everything plays in sync fine.
Has anyone else noticed this problem? Anyone found a work around which doesn't require unplugging the MiniRecorder every time I want things to play in sync?
BlackMagic is this something you can look at fixing with a driver update?
Thanks
