Intensity shuttle USB 3.0 on AMD platform?

PostFri Apr 24, 2015 8:52 pm

It's only stated that this product will work with x58 or p55 and newer chipsets, but it does not say anything about AMD.
Particularly, I'm interested in connecting this product to a AMD970 based motherboard. Is it feasible?

Regards.

It's normally more to do with the USB controller than the motherboard, although having said that BM don't test AMD chipset boards only Intel.

The most compatible USB 3 controllers seem to be either the older NEC/Renesas or the latest Intel

We have one of these... And you'll need a specific USB chipset for it to work without blue screening your windows machine. We started doing webcasts a year or two ago and went with a Mac mini and thunderbolt to sdi/hdmi after extensive testing led us to conclude the intensity shuttle only worked with a small number of machines.

If you can find a USB 3.0 card with an NEC/Renasas chipset, the shuttle should work for you. This is a minefield as well. Do a google search for compatible USB 3.0 cards for the Shuttle.

So, you think this will work even if my motherboard's USB 3 controller is different form the PCI-E card?

I found this:
SEDNA PCI Express USB 3 0 4 Port Adapter 4E NEC Renesas 720201 chip set
