Hi there,

good to see, that there is a forum now.

We are using some Ultrascopes here in house and one is for broadcast tape creation.

The "problem" is, that the audio meter shows only the peaklevel.
With end of August the audio level meter is not usefull for us anymore.
Because the audio level of the Broadcasttapes/files will be measured in LKFS/LUFS in most countries of central Europe.

What about an software upgrade with LKFS/LUFS (EBU R128) measurement?
Is there a plan for this?

I can only stress the point how important it is that we have R128 compliant measurement in the near future in the UltraScopes!

Therefor I second Michael's request strongly!!!

This should be the highest priority for BMD (beside the Camera )

I agree with this 100% Many broadcasters here in the states have drooped dial norm as a standard and are going LUFS/LKFS. Even though I'm not an audio guy it'd be great in the finishing suite to double check these levels. Of course LUFS/LKFS should also get added to the logging function as well.

we do loads of work throughout the world and love the Ultrascopes but R128 is essential in all broadcast deliverables in Europe as of the 31st of August ...

Yeah, I second that. The new Premiere comes with a LUFS/LKFS module, but I really rely on my Ultroscopes, most of our workstations and workflows depend on it.

You could use www.sdiscope.com with your Ultrascope PCI hardware. It supports LUFS audio measurement, and a lot more.

There are also numerous LUFS/R128 loudness-meter plug-ins you can use directly in Fairlight and Pro Tools, like Nugen, Waves, KVR Audio, and TC Electronic. I like and use the Nugen meters all the time.
