HP Dreamcolor z27x and Mini Monitor HDMI 8 bit / 10 bit

PostFri Jul 31, 2015 2:42 pm

Ok so I'm not sure if anyone has run into this before or maybe its just the way it is. I have the Mini-Monitor connected directly to the z27x via HDMI. No matter what mode I set my software to RCX 10 bit / 8 bit or DaVinci 8 bit / 10 bit when I hit the "Info" button on the panel it says I'm in "YCbCR / 8" I understand the Mini-Monitor is YUV only so the first part of the that seems to be correct but for some reason I can not get it to "YCbCR / 10" am I reading the info panel wrong on the monitor? Is the mini-monitor truly not 10 bit HDMI just 10 bit SDI? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

There are known issues with the Dreamcolor. Do a search here and on the LiftGammaGain website and you'll discover the problems; 8-bit is only one of many.

As far as I remember well from my test HDMI is also 10bit.
My monitor was broadcast Sony OLED.

The Dreamcolor colour reproduction is great on Displayport connection but with and HDMI connection the picture seems 8 bit to me and is over sharpened and has absolutely no depth of field. Such a great monitor and not sure why they did not add the latest HDMI connection or SDI inputs. I am sending the monitor back for a refund.

It's mainly monitor for stills+ add SDI and price will be much higher.
Want something better, get an Eizo :)

Call HP and ask if HDMI is 10bit. I think it's.
Have you looked at setting- do you have correct black level set for HDMI (YUV v. RGB)? Sounds like not if you video is washed out or to contrasty.
