From what I understood and searched, the answer is no. Sucks though. I can't even minimize the darn window once it's up and running. It tells you how stiff this software is.

The only Resolve GUI widget that can utilize a secondary display is the Waveform Monitor widget. That can be dragged from the primary display to the secondary display. All other GUI items are constrained to the primary display.

Is there any intention of making it possible to move parts of the interface to where I would like them to be?

IE spread across 2 monitors with one of them in large view.

Hi
I am sure this product will evolve over time,
Right now a large part of it is free. Unfortunatley!

The first thing I did was to print the manual and read.
It explaines very nicely what you get.
Yes, and the interface is pretty rigid. Unfortunatley!

What type of laptop do you have? I was looking to invest on a new laptop or a huge edit machine. But if resolve can run on a laptop i will go for that at this moment because of "field work"

If you like, you could set your external monitor to be primary in the system display properties. Then Resolve's GUI would show up on it.

I'm using a Dell XPS 17 with a NVidia GT555M display adapter with 3GB onboard.

The machine is i7 with 16GB ram.

I can easily set the external monitor as main but what do I gain?

Resolve will display on whichever screen is primary. I thought your goal was to put it on the external monitor because it's larger. Then you can put the scopes on your smaller laptop monitor. Maybe I read you wrong though.
