Incorrect Cross dissolves

PostTue Jan 08, 2013 7:30 pm

I'm using CS5.5 on Windows 7 and have a Decklink Studio card. Simple cross dissolves are not working correctly. The dissolve has a non-linear "hitch" in it where the dissolve percentage jumps suddenly from one frame to another. If I move the timeline to a sequence that is not Blackmagic based and does not output through the Decklink card, the dissolve works smoothly with no hitch or jump. The actual playback rate is fine. Frames are not being skipped. It is the dissolve rate that seems to be altered from a straight linear dissolve to one that does not maintain its linearity.

We updated to the latest BM Design software and the problem persists.

On your dissolve, are you going between tracks or to the same track? Also are you by any chance using the dissolve to fade to black where the track beneath the track you're using has no video?

I'll see if I can have one of my techs look at this, but I'm not sure we will fix this unless the issue also occurs in CS6 which is what we are actively developing.

I've set this up with a standard cross-dissolve between two clips on the same track in a Blackmagic 1080i59.94 8bit YUV sequence outputting over SDI. The cross-dissolve was set for:
Image A fades into Image B
Duration 00;00;01;00
Alignment Center at Cut
Start 0.0 End 100.0

I was unable to reproduce the issue with a hitch in the transition, and the dissolve ran smoothly. Can you provide us with more specific details regarding your setup?

I have tested this in both CS5.5 and CS6.

The cross dissolve is on the same track. I will dig up the specifics tonight or tomorrow and get them posted.
