simultaneous downconvert 720p50>PAL on ultrastudio express?

hi,
with a studioexpress device, is it possible, eg. in finalcut or mediaexpress, to simoultaneously capture 720p50 and view the input via component or composite on an SD screen?

i connect a 720p50 camera via hdmi as input and a monitor via component as output. if i now open mediaexpress and capture, the signal does get passed on to the monitor in 720p50.
if i enable downconvert in bmd system prefs (either anamorphic or letterbox) the signal output is still 720p50, it just ignores the setting.
if i connect the output via composite (downconvert enabled), the screen stays black.

i run a macbook pro retina, gforce gt 650m 1gb, cuda version 5.0.37.
any hints? or does the studioexpress simply not support this?

I have tried similar (with 720p59.94 and 60) and haven't had success either.

I am still testing in the next few days ie: if I'm not capturing and just playback through media express with downconvert on, will it work

when I do capture it does definitely throughput both HDMI and SDI

Mhm, anyone around from blackmagic to verify what this device can do and what not? They should know what they are selling...?

After doing some playing around, couldn't get it to work:

Tried
-both anamorphic and letterbox
-live capture and playback of a previously captured file

Nothing came through the composite out. So am guessing it only works if you have a SD source?
