Hyperdeck Studio timecode issue

PostTue May 31, 2016 2:04 pm

Hi,
I recorded video in Hyperdeck Studio via SDI with embedded time code starting from 23:59:57:14 to 00:00:20:00 /time base is 25 fps/ The video is ok but the device is not able to execute "goto" commands via remote control /both rs422 and telnet/ to time code positions in the 00:00:00:00 - 00:00:20:00 range. In telnet i receive "out of range" error. Hyperdeck Studio v.4.4 video is 1080/50i.
Any info about the issue will be of great help.
Plamen.

Hi,

I don't know for sure but I think this could be due to the TC running over 00:00:00:00 and creating a percived Timecode reset. This used to cause me loads of issues back when we used to film on tapes years ago. Our work around was to rename the tape in meta data post reset ie Tape1 <11:59:59:25, Tape1A <00:00:00:00.

Just a thought. Hope it helps.

yes, wrapping your timecode is usually an easy way to cause a headache.

Back in the tape days, we used to force the show to take a break for 5 or 10 mins when it got close to midnight.
