Decklink Quad Input Names

Hi there,

we use 2 of the Deckling Quad Cards in our HP Z840 Workstation.
Everything fine, since yesterday.
We upgrade to Desktop Video 10.7.1 and the upgraded the Firmwares on the cards - Everything with success.

But not comes the "BUT".

The Inputs from Card 1 are named "Blackmagic SDI (1) ... Blackmagic SDI (4)"
And the Inputs from Card 2 are also named "Blackmagic SDI (1) ... Blackmagic SDI (4)"

Hmmmm this is a little Problem because of we need in example Input Blackmagic SDI (7) but the System donĀ“t know Blackmagic SDI (7). In the Input Selection the System shows only on time Blackmagic SDI (1) ... Blackmagic SDI (4). But in the Blackmagic Video Utility it shows both Cards with the same name.

My question is, how i can give the Cards or better the In/Outputs other names. Is there a possibility ?

Thanks for help

You can rename the connections in the Desktop Video Utility. Once in the Desktop Video Utility, select the About tab then change the names in the label section.

Hello everybody,

hello Tony. Thank you for your answer.
After updating today to 10.9 Desktop Utility. Now we have the same problem again.
Last time we had to go back to an older version so the two quad cards were recognized correctly.

Now we have tried as you have written this. Desktop Utility Setup -> About tab - > Changing the Name.
However, you can not change the name of the inputs.

This can be solved somehow differently because the problem is the decklink SDI (1) ... (4) now again appears twice. Also in the MediaExpress tool.

Thank you

Don't "chase" new drivers. If you don't need it because of OS version or some new feature etc, don't install new ones only because they are available. If old version works stick with it. You will save yourself a lot of hassle.
Also- never use 1st version of the drivers, e.g. 10.9 etc. They are the worst. Always wait for some next version 10.9.3 etc.

Guys, respectfully this is bad advice for anyone who is having issues with their Decklink cards. It is BMD's job to make sure they do not keep breaking the drivers.

The Decklink cards do not work 100% of the time in the first place. It is absolutely essential to have the latest drivers - so that there is at least a chance of the cards working correctly. When BMD fix the auto-detect function, they break the card/input order, or they break the labeling, the auto-detect breaks, the labeling changes and so on and so on.

BMD need to do a better job with their Desktop Video releases so they don't keep breaking everyone's workflow. It has been a constant challenge for BMD since the Desktop Video application was first available. It's kind of ridiculous.

If you have problem (or had problems straight from the beginning) then yes, you should try latest drivers (you have not much choice).
If you had system working fine for some time then there is in most cases no need at all to chase latest drivers.

Read 1st post, which quite clearly negates your advice against my advice :)
Latest doesn't mean the best at all, specially wen you have older model and latest release just adds support for new ones.
BM is poor with their releases- their first next major version is basically guaranteed to be full of problems. You can update if you have a serious problem or if new drive adds something new and useful for your workflow. Otherwise it's pointless to update- you just asking yourself for a problems :)
Maybe for you it's not a problem, but when you are an admin of many systems with BM cards (in real production environment) then it's a different story :)

I have the same problem (in several systems).
For example, in one of the systems, we use one card DeckLink Quad 2 (Card 3 - in the pictures), which is visible in the system with name "DeckLink Quad", and two cards DeckLink Quad (Card 1 and Card 2 - in the pictures), which are visible with names "DeckLink SDI".

Well, five years are passed. Any updates?
...
Driver version 12.4 still has this problem.
It is impossible to use two or more DeckLink Quad cards in the same machine.
