I have a problem with out of sync.
I have a Decklink HD Extreme 3D
My sync setup for both systems is like this;
HDMI output to my LCD TV screen
Analog SD video output from the card to my AVID SYNC HD
ProTools video reference locks to this video as frame position.
The SYNC HD is locking to Word from my Apogee Rosetta800 interface, so that is my main clock source.
Video is ProRes422HQ 25fps on an internal Sata600 disk.
I can measure my video sync by using a photocell. I have made a black video containing single white frames. When i play this video my photocell outputs an ugly signal at the white frames that i can record as audio in my ProTools session so i can exactly see where the white frames where played.
When i have Desktop Video version 10.3.7. I have to set the Sync Video Offset in ProTools to 12qtr frames to be sync accurate.
Desktop Video version 10.8, here i have to set the Sync Video Offset in ProTools to 28qtr frames to be sync accurate.
10.3.7 doesn't support some editing programs like Premiere and FCPX
When i play this video with DesktopVideo 10.8 it starts in sync, then i experience 1 frame too early after 6 seconds, then at approx 24 sec 3 frames early, 32 seconds 4 frames early, and later on it gets up to 5 frames early. And after one hour it is still 5 frames early. So it is not drift, it skips frames somewhere or something like that.
I made a measurement with my sync checker method mentioned above.
These are ProTools screenshots.
The blue track is the audio track of the 'white frames' video. It has bleeps for reference.
The green track is the recording of my photo cell that is in front of my LCD tv.
The grid is one frame
The video starts at 1 hour.
When i play the same session with DTV 10.3.7 i get much better results. I noticed that after 18 mins i am suddenly 1 frame early.
Am i right in my conclusion that 10.3.7 is much better in not dropping frames compared to 10.8?
