Teranex Mini 444 issue

Sending the Teranex Mini a 444 signal results an improper picture (refer to picture). My setup is sending signal from DaVinci Resolve to Teranex Mini to Monitor.

Hardware includes DeckLink 4K Extreme 10.8.4. Teranex Mini - SDI to HDMI 12G 4.7

Sadly today's update (5.0.1) doesn't address the issue.

Are you sure it's the Teranex and not the DeckLink (or DaVinci)? I'm seeing something similar if I try this:

DaVinci Resolve, 444 enabled > DeckLink 4K Pro > SmallHD 702

Does the monitor support a 444 signal and has it been set up to receive a 444 signal?

In my case with the SmallHD 702 there are no settings for chroma subsampling and the specs say:

HD-SDI input: RGB/YCC 4:2:2 and 4:4:4, 1080p60, 1080i60,1080i59.94,1080i50, 1080p30, 1080p25, 1080p24, 1080p23.98, 1080pSF23.98, 1080pSF24, 1080pSF25 , 1080pSF29.97, 720p60, 720p59.94, 720p50

If I remove the teranex from the signal path than all is fine. The downside is I am using the teranex to display a calibration LUT for my monitor. For the meantime I have to send out 422.

Were you able to get this working? I'm now using a Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI as well and having the same issue with 444.

444 through HDLink Pro 3D is working perfectly with a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but the Teranex connected to the same monitor gives the wrong colors.

Does the HDLink Pro convert to RGB perhaps, while the Teranex stays in YUV?

Hi Patrick,

I have exactly the same problem !
I contacted the support and i have been told, BM is investigating but there is no ETA.
Did you get it to work in some way?

Hey all,

Has anyone found a fix for this?

Im having the same issue setting up a Panasonic EZ950 as a client monitor. Signal path is Resolve - UltraStudio 4K - Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI - EZ950. Teranex SDI loop to FSI CM250 looks fine.

Could this be HDMI cable related?

So, three years after the initial announcement at IBC 2015, these are now finally working as they should with the new firmware released today, v6.1.1. :D

There seems to be a new Problem.

After updating the teranex mini software and firmware to 6.1.1 i experienced the following issue:

i input 422 1.5G single link HDSDI into the teranex mini (1920x1080 422 10bit 24p).I have a display calibration LUT inside the teranex mini which i also apply to the SDI loop through. the SDI output from the teranex mini goes into my PVM 2541a Grading Monitor.

Before the update everything was perfectly fine (with firmware up to version 6.1). But with version 6.1.1 the blacks are crushed (nothing changed in my hardware or software setup). When i bypass the LUT i can see the detail that gets crushed when the LUT is active. I could not flash the old firmware to revert to the last working configuration.

Anyone else had that issue?

Update: i tested the teranex mini with the 6.1.1 firmware now also with this setup:

12g UHD and DCI 4K 24p 444 12bit full range input from Decklink extreme 4K 12g (via Resolve 15.1.1)into Teranex Mini - output from Teranex Mini via HDMI to Sony KD55A1

Now there is an image on the A1 from teranex (was black with earlier firmware). But the signal gets clipped (both highlights and shadows get clipped away and detail is missing). Image looks absolutely normal when feeding the A1 via HDMI directly from the Decklink extreme 4k 12Gs HDMI output.

Hello I have the same issue.

I have a decklink 8k pro with davinci resolve 15.1.1.

I try to send full range UHD 444 10 bit sdi to a sdi to hdmi converter.

First I fed an aja hi5-12G. No input..

I tested with the teranex sdi to hdmi 12G, no picture neither in 6.1.0

I updated to 6.1.1, i now have the picture but when i send full range into it, the signal is washed out like it only accepts legal range. Even with the "clips to legal" option unchecked.

I have the same range issue with the mini converter sdi to hdmi 6g. No full range..

Hello,

it seems that the fullrange/video range issue happens only in 444. In 422, no problems.

Thanks

I think you'll find that any LUTs generated for the Teranex Mini running v6.1 will have been "full range" and would work correctly.
If you upgraded to v6.1.1, it will now expect "legal range" LUTs.
It doesn't say this in the release notes but if you do a quick profile with each LUT loaded, you'll see that the internal processing is now the same as the SDI to HDMI 6G box, "legal range".
The solution is to rescale your LUT from Full to legal range.
