Micro Converter SDI to HDMI not converting Psf to P

PostTue Apr 11, 2017 6:45 pm

Since Psf isn't supported over HDMI, Psf needs to be converted to work. Just got one of these converters and it doesn't do that. Am I missing something?

It has to- as you said there is no such a thing like PsF over HDMI. It should be progressive but also can be flagged as interlaced.
How do you know it doesn't do it?

Test with TV, not PC monitor as these quite often don't support e.g. 25p/30p.

1080i playing out Psf via SDI through converter to TV doesn't work. Change the DNxIO box to P from Psf and it works. Unfortunately, that won't work going to HDCAMSR so I can't output to tape and monitor on client monitor at the same time.

It should do such a basic function (what does it actually do if not this?) and as far as I recall many BM devices do.
It also says that 1080 60p is supported on SDI side, but not on HDMI? So what this converter actually do? It's SDI->HDMI converter, so what is the point of supporting some mode on input, but not on output? Makes no sense at all (looks like description page issue).
You get what you pay for :)
It also doesn't say if 10bit is preserved, so be careful.
Have you asked about it BM support?
