Colors for an editing monitor

PostThu Jul 27, 2017 11:24 am

Hi,

I want to change my monitor and get a new one but I see a lot of people talking of the same problem but giving away very different solutions. The thing is that some people say that a 99.5% Adobe 98 is the correct choice while others say that the 100% sRGB is the correct choice. Of course there is always the price problem. Eizos and NECs are great but everybody's talking about how good the BenQ, Asus, LG and Dell are.

Any ideas, experiences, suggestions?

Thanks in advance! :) :) :)

I would try to get the monitor calibrated for Rec709/BT1886 as closely as you can. This is actually very similar to Adobe sRGB, except in terms of gamma.

In truth, I don't think you can rely on believing the picture in the GUI display, and I think for final color you have to have a color managed output feeding a calibrated external display. But if it's just for editing, any reasonable computer monitor is adequate.
