Fuji X-T2 HDMI Issues with HDMI to SDI and Mini Recorder

I'm having a lot of issues with the Fuji X-T2 HDMI output. Neither of my HDMI/SDI Mini Recorder or HDMI to SDI micro converter will "see" the HDMI signal. Note, I'm recording to in-camera SD and choosing 1080p/29.97fps (or lower) record rate –– not 4K out over the HDMI and have selected clean output.

Interestingly, my Video Assist 4K does see the signal just fine and reports the 1080p/29.97 rate and if I loop HDM or SDI from the Video Assist into either device, they work just fine. Other HDMI devices such as my Macbook Pro or iPad work fine as well.

So I'm sure it's something "interesting" about the X-T2's HDMI output. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Norm

Hi all. Just a quick update..

I've connected the Fuji X-T2 to my HD TV via HDMI and this is what it reports regardless of resolution setting (eg. 2160/1080/720). Note that the X-T2 does not have an AUTO output setting.
1920x1080 / 30Hz when the camera is set to a frame rate of 29.97P
1920x1080 / 60Hz when the camera is set to a frame rate of 59.94P
1920x1080 / 24Hz when the camera is set to a frame rate of 24P or 23.98P
and
720x480 / 25Hz when the camera is set to a frame rate of 25P
720x480 / 50Hz when the camera is set to a frame rate of 50P
Note in all cases my HD TV and no issues displaying my camera's image.

Anyone else experiencing HDMI issues with the X-T2?

Hi,

i just bought an Ultrastudio mini recorder to do live streaming with my Fuji X-T2 and have the same issues. The camera’s HDMI output works fine with my TV, but not on the Ultrastudio mini recorder. Another camera also works with the Ultrastudio mini.

Is this a Blackmagic or Fuji issue?

I am experiencing the same problem: attempting to pull 1080p 29.97 from my X-T2 with an UltraStudio Mini Recorder and stream out via OBS or Wirecast.

The most agonizing part has been that it works intermittently and inconsistently, without adhering to any kind of decipherable pattern. 90% of the time, a complete reboot of all of the components manages to get things working again, but this isn't exactly a viable solution for live broadcast.

Tantalizingly Maddeningly close to working.

(For the record: I've had no trouble pulling 1080p 29.97 from a Hero 5 Black via HDMI with the UltraStudio Mini.)

Fingers crossed that this will soon be fixed by a clever reordering of some ones and zeroes somewhere.

Update:

I was successful when connecting a 5" Blackmagic Assist to my X-T2 and then sending the HDMI video to Wirecast on my Mac via the UltraStudio Mini Recorder.

Not a super-cheap solution, but one that is working consistently for me.

Hope this helps!

Hi all. I gave up on getting the Mini Recorder to recognize my X-T2 natively. I wanted to run longer SDI cables anyway and found this great little HDMI to SDI device on Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B074V1B9S4/

Works like a charm and can be powered by a simple 5v usb battery.

Happy streaming!
