Recovery of a .mov file

PostThu Aug 24, 2017 9:45 pm

Hey all-

I have a HyperDeck Shuttle 2. We've used this thing like crazy! During a recording of one of our sessions, the Shuttle was not stopped and it happened to die shortly afterward. We were left with about 45 minutes of footage that was corrupt.

I have been scouring the web for a utility to help with this type of issue and have come up empty handed. Has anyone else experience power failure during capture and have had success in recovering the footage?

The company Aeroquartet has a web service called "Treasured" that claims to repair and/or recover ProRes files, but it's not cheap.

In case of MOV you can take proper amount of bits from the same recording working file (which is just MOV format headers) and replace beginning of broke file. If actual ProRes data is fine then this should work. This is theory though :)
