Decklink - P2 Widescreen standard def

PostTue Sep 04, 2012 11:34 pm

Hello,

Decklink Extreme HD
Mac 12 Core
32 GB Ram
Lion 10.74
Quadro 4000
Flanders 2460
Panasonic VT-25
BM 9.6.1 or 2
Premiere CS-6

I got a bunch of source footage in today on a hard drive. P2 acquisition format. It appears to be standard definition 720 x 480 widescreen 16x9 29.97fps. The footage imports correctly and plays back fine. The problem I am having is that the footage will not play out of the Decklink card in the correct aspect ratio. I have tried all sorts of sequence presets, everything from letting Premiere make the correct sequence to me trying all sorts of custom sequences with various pixel aspect ratios. I typically get the same result: The footage looks correct in the Premiere Pro program monitor, but is coming out of the Blackmagic SDI incorrectly. It always comes out 4 x 3 and squished. Both my monitors the Flanders and the Panasonic display it the same as 4 x 3.

Can you offer any help with a custom setting or possibly a work around for a know bug? I very rarely work in standard definition so this problem may not be new, but it is new for me on this project.

Thanks
Ray

Thanks for that, but these are both HD monitors that autoswitch based on incoming HD signal. I think the problem is a bug in the 9.6 BM driver.

I went to Flanders web site & found this
http://www.flandersscientific.com/index/pg90745
It show how to change SD video for 4x3 or 16 x 9 you have to remenber sd is 720 x 486 for both 4x3 & 16x9 the difference is pixel width 4x3 is .9 and 16x9 is 1.2
