Is there a way to record into FCPX using an UltraStudio? I'm wanting to record straight into Final Cut.

No, because - unlike the old FCP7 - FCPX doesn't have a "capture" mode. I have Media Express installed on four OSX/FCPX systems and I use Media Express in all cases. It's no big deal though.

As far as I can tell, FCPX can only capture from camera devices. It will still support the old Firewire cameras too.

That's not "capture", that's "import".

No it doesn't - for the reasons I explained above.

FCPX captures from mini DV tapes in real time using firewire. I have been doing it for years. Yes, one must use the import dialog box but it is still capturing in real time. There is no Log & Capture which allows batch capture, but it is still doing a tape capture inside FCPX.

Really? It's so long since I've had a need to use Firewire that I was oblivious of the fact!

Thanks for the insight guys. But I did find that I can use Resolve Live in the free version of DaVinci 14 that can take the live feed and give me scopes.
