Blackmagic Video Assist Capture and Audio question.

PostWed Sep 20, 2017 3:40 pm

I know the Video Assist is more designed for capturing camera footage in the wild but could I use it for capture and digitization of my old video content without a PC?

Specifically I want to digitize my Laserdisc collection without using a PC, would this work? I could come out of my video processor with any signal I like (probably 1080p24 for film). How would the video assist handle audio (specifically Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital) that my processor sends over HDMI? Would the Video Assist encode this with the video?

Any help is appreciated.
