Output time Workstation vs. Macbook

Hey Guys,

I'm pretty newbie in video editing. I've build a workstation which consists of Ryzen 1800X (@3950Mhz), Asus X370 Pro, 32GB Gskill DDR4, 960 Pro Nvme SSD and a GTX 1080 (@2075Mhz). So far the specs. With release of Resolve 14 and the promise to get much faster I tested also my 2015 MacBook Pro against my workstation. Just for fun. I thought that the Macbook must be really much slower. But it isnt. I testet it with my project (exported it) which consits of some mavic pro files. I choosed 4K 30fps H264 as output. The Ryzen needs 4:28 and the Macbook 9:XX. Nearly twice the time. Is that possible? I compared 16 Threads with 3950Mhz against 4 Threads with 3100Mhz. I thought the difference must be much more. I recognized that the CPU-Load is also not always 100%, also the GPU-Clock is not always on max 2075Mhz. Sometimes only 1600Mhz!?

What could be the limiting Factor? Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

It's probably related to your source file. On Mac h264 is hardware decoded.
Use e.g. DNxHR source and export to DNxHR- difference should be way bigger.
You may want to pay for Studio license to get better h264 handling.

Ok so in your opinion its normal? Do you have a link with sample files which I can use for a test?
