DeckLink 8k Pro

Happy New Year everyone!

Can the x4 12G SDI connectors on the DeckLink 8k Pro be used independently - EG as x4 different 12G SDI inputs rather than Quad link to get 8k in or out of the card?

I'd like to have four independent 12g SDI connectors, therefore allowing an application like Softron Movie Recorder to connect and ingest from four different UHD 25p sources (on a suitably configured iMac Pro).

When you look at the older cards answer may be "IT CAN'T".
Even if connections are bi-directional with BM it doesn't mean they are independent.
There is a separate series of cards which are made for this, but of course nothing for 4K atm.

I'm hoping the connections are independent. The 4K Pro card has been silently discontinued and one of the inputs on my 4K Pro has recently stopped working.

The Decklink 4K Pro only has a 12G input A and B.. Input B is only for stereoscopic use. So it is not 2 independent 12G connections as BMD support has told me.

The Decklink 8K Pro offers 4 independent 12G-sdi in or outputs or a mix of those. So you can configure it into 2x in 2x out or a different configuration.

So you can use this card for Vmix or other software as 3 Channels input and 1 output. Or 4 channel ISO recorder. Or whatever your software does support.

Daniel, do you know if the 8K Pro can perform the same trick that the 4K Pro does of downscaling the second output to HD when an application feeds the card UHD?

That i do not know.. Anything in the manual about that maybe?

Unfortunately the manual is very generic and doesn't mention specific details about the different cards.
