Question regarding using multiple Audio Monitors.

PostWed Jan 10, 2018 5:11 pm

Hello. I've just registered to ask this question. I haven't searched the forum yet, so please excuse my haste. :-)

We already have one of the Audio Monitors (using SDI), and I absolutely love it. My question is: If I add in a second unit to listen to Ch 3&4, will the sound remain in sync with the existing unit, which is monitoring Ch 1&2? I really need to hear these four channels simultaneously, with no lag. I know I could add in an SDI to Audio de-embedder and listen to all four analog signals, but it would be more desirable to simply use a second Audio Monitor. Makes a cleaner install. Has anyone done this, and for this reason? Any info would be greatly appreciated, and Thanks eh. (Canadian here)

TL;DR: I want to listen to four channels of SDI embedded audio.

If you can live with a 50ns delay between the 2 units.. I guess your good to go ;)

The 50ns is caused by the reclocker. As you loop trough the first device to the second one. But i guess you will not hear that 50ns..

Otherwise you have the hearing of a BAT.

:) Thanks very much sir. That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I should go and prepare my Blackmagic shopping list. I also need another SmartScope Duo, another Teranex, and apparently an UltraStudio 4K. When did they drop the ability to capture from the Teranex?

Cheers.

Since the Teranex 3D version..

The Hyperdeck Studio Pro also has a thunderbolt capture connection. But will only go up to 1080P30.. While the recorder does 2160P30.. So it seems they did not include the Thunderbolt option on the 12G gear.

I also do see now the older Teranex converters are removed and only the Teranex AV and Express are available.
