Feelworld 7 inch monitor not working on BMPCC

Whats the best way to diagnose a monitor malfunction?
The battery is brand new, there has been no trauma to the monitor and has only been used twice so i'm trying to figure out the root cause to the problem. When the battery is attached it just has a red light on the monitor and no feed on the BMPCC. Suggestions?

The likeliest explanation is that the HDMI port on the BMPCC is kaput. A common issue, goggle it here.
