Media Express 3.5.5 not allowing capture using DNxHD codecs

PostTue Feb 20, 2018 10:06 am

Is there any way to make Media Express recognize and use for capture the DNxHD codecs installed with DaVinci Resolve?

Or, is there any other way to pre-install such codecs and have Media Express use them for capture?

We are specifically interested in using the following:

• DNxHD 1080p 36 8-bit
• DNxHD 1080p 145/120/115 8bit
• DNxHD 1080p 220/185/175 8bit
• DNxHD 1080i 145/120/115 8bit
• DNxHD 1080i 220/185/175 8bit

Thank you.

This is not supported in MediaExpress. Only few options are and they are visible in preferences.
You can use Resolve to capture DNxHD or 3rd part app.
MediaExpress is simple app. Don't be fooled by support page which mentions many codecs either- this is meaningless list.

Thank you. Do you have a recommendation for 3rd-party capture apps you have tried using the DNxHD codecs?

For DNxHD you can use Resolve for free.
There are not many apps which can do it- you either have to know how to use things like ffmepg or pay for "real" capture tool and those are not cheap.
On PC cheapest would be probably:

Make sure you try it first with trial version.
It also important if you want Rs-422 control or not.

Other apps which support BM cards (some do DNxHD some may not):
Tools On Air Just: Play & Live & In, Softron MovieRecorder & MReplay, CyberLink PowerDirector, CasparCG Server, Magicsoft CG, Xsplit Broadcaster, Metus Ingest, Boinx Software MimoLive, Cinegy Capture Pro, Open Broadcaster Software Studio.

bold are reliable ones but expensive as well.
