Setup with Mini Monitor 4K & Eizo CG247x

PostWed Mar 21, 2018 5:45 pm

Hi guys,

In January I got the Eizo CG247x which I used for a printing project an now for a editing and grading project. The Eizo is attached to the PCI Mini Monitor 4K.

Several questions have come up regarding workflow:

1. Output Scaling: I edit this version in 1998 x 1080 (DCI FLAT). Though the reference monitor is 1920 x 1200. When I change "Output Scaling" uncheck "Match timeline setting" and set "Output reslution" to 1920 x 1200 I get the correct resolution on the Eizo monitor. Though, on the editing monitor I get quite noticable black bars. Is there a way to just adjust the scale of the reference monitor and leave the working and editing screen as be?

2. Color accuracy: Do I need to change anything within Resolve for color accuracy on the Eizo? Of course, the calibrating of the monitor itself is a different story.

3. "Video Monitoring" --> "Video Format": I don't really understand the difference between HD1080p 2K1080p and 2K1080PsF. Which one do I need to use? I work with both 2048 x 1080 and 4096 x 2160 source material.

Thank you for your help! Much appreciated.

Best,
Janis

EDIT: I think you're probably right setting output as 1920x1200

You should be seeing both black bars on the Resolve viewer and the display as your aspect of your timeline is wider than that of the monitor. The Resolve viewer will mirror the output monitor aspect ratio and show a crop accordingly. It's nothing to worry about.

Regarding P/PsF etc, just use P for progressive. Progressive Segmented Frames won't be relevant.

Thank you guys.

Now this question is still unanswered:

2. Color accuracy: Do I need to change anything within Resolve for color accuracy on the Eizo? Of course, the calibrating of the monitor itself is a different story

Thank you.
