Teranex 2K DCI (2048x1080) downconvert to 1920x1080?

I asked Blackmagic Sales about this a while back but didn't get a reply, so thought worth asking here...

Can anyone confirm exactly how a Terenex box would convert 2K DCI (2048x1080) to 1920x1080?

It seems many / most systems use a centre crop technique to get from 2K DCI to HD. This would not work for us. We need the image scaled down and the vertical resolution padded back to 1080.

Many thanks
Mark

Just run it through any software with decent scaling (Resolve, ffmpeg, etc)- it will be as good if not better.
It will of course have bit of black bars top/bottom.

Thanks, but that is not relevant to our workflow.

This is a Baselight 2K DCI output going to a projector, that also needs to be fed into a live encoder box. For this we need a 1080p signal, hence why I asked about Terenex. Anyone able to confirm the downconversion method Terenex uses for 2K DCI to 1080p?

Also are we able to feed a dual link 444 signal into the Terenex for this downconversion - getting a single link 1080p signal out?

Thanks
Mark

It should be possible- have you checked in Teranex manual or with BM support?

Manual says nothing about 2K to 1080 preset, but you have custom aspect adjustments (page 34) which allows for quite a few settings, so it's most likely possible.

Have now tested this and indeed it does work as expected.
