BM Mini Converter UpDownCross HD

Hello- Can anyone please tell me if the Mini Converter UpDownCross HD can be used in this way: 1080i50 SDI input and a separate blackburst REF signal also input. I don't need any conversion on the output but if the SDI input is lost, I need the output to have some kind of coherent SDI output- black is OK. Just not shutting off completely. Then when the SDI input returns, the output of course returns to follow the input. The purpose is to give a downstream encoder a stable input even upon brief signal loss. The SDI input will return after 800- 1000ms, but the output needs to have some kind of coherent signal during that brief time.
