Hi there,

Since I recently bought my Eizo CG247X I know what smooth 24p looks like on a Desktop Screen. Unlike the Asus I had before (still have it as an UI screen) that only supported 60 Hz. The Eizo has a 48/72 HZ pulldown and it looks stunning. Pans and Slow Motion is so much smoother.

Now I have a Epson TW7300 which I'll need for a video life performance soon. Sofar when I hooked up the Epson to my Macbook, I didn't really get a smooth playback; especially visible in pans and rolling titles.

Now according to the manual the following refresh rates over HDMI:

How will I achieve smooth 24p playback with no stuttering on my Epson TW7300 like on my Eizo CG247x? Will I need a BMD Decklink Card? Change Settings on my Macbook?

Yes, best way is to use some BM card- then it's all perfectly locked to 24Hz.

With your TV- go to Mac display settings and set format to 24Hz (it probably defaults to 60Hz). This should be smoother although with "desktop playback" you will not get proper refresh lock between player and TV.
You need good player for this. It can be done on PC, not sure about Mac.

I have a MB Pro 2017 running High Sierra and couldn't change the Refresh Rate (didn't even show!). When we tried on an older laptop running El Capitan, it was possible to change the Refresh Rate which came with a major improvement.

Did Apple take that option away from us with High Sierra or could it possibily be the USB-C Adapter?

I can change it and I'm on High Sierra. Not sure why you can't.

Thats odd - also with a projector / Display? Maybe the USB-C adapter after all...

I don't think it's adapter related.
Download SwitchResX and then add custom profile with 24Hz timings for your projector. You can also try 48Hz and 72Hz which your projector may be supporting.
