Actually, I investigated a bit more and thought of an option to solve this.
I re-transcoded my clip to prores422 and it worked. I now know that it was a timecode issue. H264 clips don’t keep timecode and burn a 00:00:00 tc on the clips so the software couldn’t reconnect these with the .dng clips that have the correct timecode data.
