Ultrastudio Mini Monitor with Sonnet Echo Express SE I Issue

PostSun Jul 29, 2018 3:00 am

We are running an older Ultrastudio Mini Monitor with Sonnet Echo Express SE I with a Solarflare 10g-Ethernet card.

Since "upgrading" to Sierra we have had out read throughput fall to around 100Mb/s. We are running the latest drivers from Blackmagic and have even tried older ones from last year that are qualified for Sierra without any improvement.

As soon as we unplug the thunderbolt connection to the Mini Monitor or uninstall the driver, the throughput immediately becomes normal at 1Gb/s.

If we use our older UltraStudio 3D, everything is normal (we are using that for now).

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

Thanks.

The Mini Monitor draws too much power from the thunderbolt connection and it is bottle-necking the rest of the throughput.

We purchased a few Blackmagic Design UltraStudio 3D boxes and the issue is gone.
