UltraStudio Express with Avid Media Composer

PostThu Sep 06, 2018 10:12 pm

I've got an issue.
I have a Blackmagic UltraStudio Express connected via Thunderbolt to my Avid Media Composer Editor. The goal is to have the Video playback be seen on a second monitor via SDI cable.
It's the latest version of Avid Media Composer
It's the latest Black Magic drivers.
The Hardware specs on the editor are rock solid.

I am not a Media Composer guy. I'm the IT guy. Is there a setting to get the Blackmagic to output the playback to the SDI connected monitor? Is there a setting in Media Composer that I'm missing?

This is come down to me to fix, and I'm at a loss.
HELP!

UltraStudio Express is pretty old hardware, so you may need an older Desktop Video driver.
Ryzen 5800X3D

RTX 3090
DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G
Resolve Studio 17.4.1

Two questions then:
1. The latest version of Media Composer is rejecting the older Hardware drivers as incompatible. What's the earliest version I can use?

2. If Ultrastudio Express is old, what's the new thing I can use to accomplish what I need it to do?

I want playout to go to an SDI monitor.

I'm not sure what version Media Composer will accept, we don't use it.

For a replacement device, the UltraStudio Mini Monitor is good for HD-SDI, if SDI output is the only feature you need.
