Media Not Showing Up in Resolve 9

PostSun Sep 09, 2012 5:53 am

So I installed DaVinci Resolve 9 (Lite) onto my Mac Pro and for a breif 10 seconds or so, I was able to view my media on the media page. But after searching my storage drives on my library, I can only view 'wav' files but no video media files of any sort, not even the tutorial files.

I've installed and uninstalled about 3 times, but am not sure what is going on. I have a 12 core processor, 32GB of RAM and a NVIDIA CUDA Driver Version: 5.0.24. I updated the nvidia card after DaVinci failed to work after the first 2 installs.

Anyone else experience this or am I alone? I was really looking forward to grading with this awesome tool.

Hope someone can help me.

I assume you have at least one drive selected in your "Media Storage" settings?

As you don't have an Nvidia CUDA GPU the driver is not needed. With the ATI5770 i recommend you upgrade to Mac OS X 10.8 see if that solves your problems.

Thanks to both of your responses.

I noticed that when I have an external drive connected to my mac, Resolve will not read my media, even though both my internal and external drives show up in the library section. Once I eject the external drive, then I can see the media from my internal drive; but even then, workflow is a bit jerky.

Importing Final Cut Pro XML files from Premiere 5.5 to DaVinci doesn't always import the proper media into the media pool, causing the wrong footage to appear on the timeline. The XML importing is what attracted me to DaVinci.

Anyway, I will figure it out, if not I will probably upgrade to Premiere 6 and try Speed Grade. Not that DaVinci isn't great, it's just obviously not working well with me :-)

Thanks again fellas!
