ProRES to linear?

PostSun Sep 30, 2018 4:47 pm

I've read on this forum that the best way to deal with ProRES is to transform it to linear. Can someone provide a quick walkthrough of their workflow? Do I just apply a color space transformation and then I grade after that? Or there are more things at play? Thx!

Juan Melara has written a bit about the Color Space Transformation tools in Resolve on his blog:

I think a lot depends specifically on what you're trying to do and the nature of the ProRes material. I generally don't use CST and find a way to do it that's faster and simpler, but there are advantages to that method. It's mandatory if you're (say) dealing with EXR linear footage.
