BMPCC RAW Hardware Requirements

Hi there,

i'm an absolute beginner when it comes to hardware, so please forgive me. I'm currently using a very old laptop and i recently switched to the BMPCC. My laptop is outdated and can't play the recorded footage in Resolve. It's always stuttering and has low fps or even freeze frames all the time.

I want to edit only BMPCC RAW footage. (Not any higher, like 4k). Therefore i'm looking for a new system and i'm overwhelmed... I thought about getting something like this for 700€ :

PROCESSOR AMD Ryzen 5 1600
MAINBOARD MSI B350M Pro-VDH
GRAPHICS AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB)
RAM 16GB G.Skill Aegis 3000Mhz

or this for 1000€:

PROCESSOR AMD Ryzen 5 2600
MAINBOARD MSI B450M Pro-VDH
GRAPHICS Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 Ti (8GB)
RAM 16GB G.Skill Aegis 3000Mhz

I'm using a webpage for recommended gaming hardware, since i have frankly no clue what to get. I would be happy to find some help. The recommended hardware i found using google always recommends me 4k hardware. And again as i said: I'm not looking for the highest system. I just want to be able to properly play and edit the RAW footage of my BMPCC. And therefore i want spend not as much money on the system.

Before spending more money: did you ever try to use ProRes on your laptop?
It might work and it’s nearly as good! RAW needs a lot of throughput.

Either system should be fine for BMPCC raw, though you might want to replace the Radeon GPU in the cheaper system with the gtx 1070 or 1070 ti.
