Use dual outputs on SDI for HDR & SDR viewing

If anyone can help me here that will be great. I tried the method of turning on "use dual outputs on SDI" to tried to view HDR & SDR simultaneously in DV. However, I am unable to see the HDR image on my LG OLED, is it because it has to be a native SDI input on the TV without going through a SDI to HDMI converter? Hence, the expensive Sony BVMX300 mastering monitor is the only option with build in SDI inputs and PQ curve?
I can see HDR image through direct HDMI output with metadata, just can't see it on a SDI level. I suspect it's the converter not triggering a metadata flag. Please let me know if this is true.
