Ultra Studio Mini Recorder and Media Composer 2018.12

After upgrading to 2018.12 and recently 2018.12.1 I cannot access our blackmagic mini-recorder inside avid. If I click the connect hardware button, Avid locks up and I get the spinning beachball of death. I have tried uninstalling the Blackmagic desktop drivers multiple times and with no luck. I have even tried going back from driver vsrion 10.11.4 to 10.11. No luck.

Any suggestions?

I use this with my laptop to capture live on set and edit. For the last 2 jobs I have been capturing with Blackmagic Media Express to quicktime and fast importing into Avid.

I was able to get Media composer to stop crashing when trying to open the capture tool when the Ultrastudio Mini Recorder is attached.

Now the Problem is that It won't see it as a Video capture device. It just lets me select audio tracks only.

Check which BM drives does AVID recommend. It may be much older one.

Avid doesn't list a version of the Desktop Video Drivers to use. their website for 3rd party IO compatibility says it's up to the 3rd party to make sure theri drivers work with Avid. I've called Blackmagic tech support and was told that since Blackmagic Express see's the video that they won't help to figure out why Avid isn't .

This is as expected :D
I think AVID use to have suggested version. Maybe they gave up.
All what you can do is to go through different versions going back quite a far.
