DVI as input for HDMI-->SDI micro converter

PostMon Mar 11, 2019 12:11 am

Hello

I just purchased two micro converters to try and route video.
x1 HDMI to SDI & x1 SDI to HDMI

The video source is a Philips MX800 patient monitor (x2 DVI outputs, (I cannot post url's but if you google philips Tech-MX800.pdf the technical specifications are the first link) and the
destination is C240P4QPYEW 24in CLINICAL DISPLAY (DVI input).

I have a whole lot of in roof/pendant wiring that is SDI compatible cable. I cannot alter this cabling at all. NO prospect of running native DVI/HDMI cable through the pendants!
My hope was to set things up as follows:

MX800 -->HDMI/SDI converter-->cables-->SDI/HDMI converter-->C240P4QPYEW.

It is not working. The HDMI/SDI converter flashes 1 very quick then 7 quick flashes on its status light.
This repeats.

If I change the input to another kind of monitor that has native HDMI output, everything works. Clearly the cabling is intact and the conversion works.

Please let me know if I was naive in thinking that DVI and HDMI would be interchangeable inputs for these converters. If this is doomed to fail, any suggestions on affordable DVI to SDI converters much appreciated.

thanks

Daniel

By this document http://www.achats-publics.fr/MEDICAL/Dm-new/Monitorage/multidisciplinaire/PHILIPS/MX/Tech-MX800.pdf Page 12 & 13

I found i few issues that can influence this setup. The DVI interface can be configured for VGA or DVI Signals. Also DVI supports a lot of resolutions and framerates. But! The Micro Studio only supports broadcast resolutions.

HDMI Video Standards

525i29.97 NTSC, 625i25 PAL
720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60
1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080p25, 1080p29.97, 1080p30, 1080p50, 1080p59.94, 1080p60
1080i50, 1080i59.94, 1080i60

So you must set the output resolution and framerate of the MX800 to something like 1080P50 1080P60 or 720P50/60 Any different res / frmrate and the converter will not be able to convert this as it is not complaint with broadcast resolutions. ;)
