Any tips for this please? We're struggling to make small (say 300ft) prints on plastic reels tension on the Cintel and are finding we are having to wind them on to a core for playout.

Hi Ray,
Have you selected "Use Film Reel" on the transport pane? Supported on > v2.2 releases.
This should allow small reel support.

A reminder, we supply 1mm rubber discs in the 16mm Gate kit, for packing the Reels to align them to the rollers (as reels are all different widths, thickness etc.,) please ensure the resultant clamped reels are tight and not slipping, you may also need some on the front face between the reel outer and clamp to take up any slack.

My personal preference would be to avoid using reels altogether because of a flywheel effect.

I think that's good advice: reels tend to introduce a lot of potential problems in scanning, particularly if they scrape the edge of the film. Splicing multiple short reels together and roll them onto a core is a better way to go, and that's what we used to do in the old Telecine days.
