Micro Converter SDI to HDMI - multichannel audio

Hi,

I'm dealing with 5.1 audio today, and it just dawned on me that there's zero documentation, information, or reference to the fact that both SDI and HDMI support multichannel audio...

1. Does this converter always pick up ch 1+2 from the SDI, and outputs 2.0 stereo over HDMI?
2. Is there any way to change this assignment?
3. Is there a way to get ch1-6 via HD-SDI and output 5.1 audio via HDMI, with this device?

I mean, this would be an obvious need for any workflow involving surround sound, wouldn't it?

It is not possible.

Hardware limitation that only ch1 and 2 are connected to the HDMI chipset.
