Audio Transitions (Cross Fades) do not work in Resolve 14!

PostThu Apr 27, 2017 10:49 pm

When placed on the audio timeline, you can see them but they do not work.

Same here! Please fix it Blackmagic. Resolve has to stay a PROFESSIONAL tool, ahead of everyone else.

Hi,

This is a known issue in the first public beta. We'll have a fix soon in the next beta update.

Quick question: is it possible for the moment to downgrade to 12.5?

I have the same problem with Davinci Resolve 14.0.23.0 (beta 2) and 14.0.29.0 (beta 3) on Windows 10.
Does anyone know how this bug can be fixed? Is there any workaround available?

BMD has to fix it, and there are no workarounds that I'm aware of.

Do you even understand what BETA software is? You shouldn't be doing time critical work on BETA software, it is asking for trouble...

I get the same results following your instructions as I do dragging the cross fade to the time line. The transition markers appear but the actual Cross Fade does not work.

Strange how it works on some machines and not others..

Here with V14B4: tab edit:

Cross fade on 2 audio clips (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=58782#p345412) => it works

On a video clip with video + audio linked :
SHIFT + ALT + DRAG from one clip to another right. Creation:

- cross dissolve on video
- cross fade on audio

And effect seen in the Fairlight tab:

I find that audio transitions work on the edit page (just dragged a Cross-Fade -3 dB to an audio track) but if I then delete the transition, it is still present on the Fairlight page and I have to remove it there as well.

I'm using Realtek on-board audio...

Just tested 14b5, and audio transitions are working with no problems at all. They also now show correctly in the Fairlight page.

Audio crossfades work for me as well in b5. Ben, perhaps you could put a screencast together showing the steps you're taking, in case there's something subtle you're doing that we're not?

I did find a bug though where the Fairlight and Edit pages get out of sync with respect to how the audio transitions are shown when certain edits are done, but as I tried to build a recipe to reliably reproduce it, it stopped happening.

Audio curves are not working for me either.
I downloaded Resolve 14 on my Mac and Windows 10 box yesterday. The problem is the same on both machines. Windows version is: 14.0.0b.043 from the downloaded file DaVinci_Resolve_14.0b5_Windows

I took an audio file and added key frames to do a manual fade out. The curve looks correct, but when it hits the first keyframe, the audio drops quickly, it does not follow the curve. I even used a spline for the curve and bumped up the audio first in the graph, but it had the same problem -- the volume diminished quickly after hitting the first keyframe.

The problem also exist when moving the fade handles on the clip.

After you fix this issue, please look at how Sony Vegas (now Magix Vegas) handles audio. It is elegant and allows you to quickly crossfade and set curve types in the most intuitive way. No other NLE matches their simplicity and results when working with audio.

I have exactly the same issue as Ross Safronoff - resolve ( Windows 10, version 14 studio beta ) - my computer is a high spec new PC and has no issues running 12.56 nor any other features.

Level points not working on beta 6. It seems like it's keeping the levels even though you delete the track.

Also, the color correction goes on and off on certain files.

Please fix it guys!

yup, Definitely not working. Really can't edit a project in 14b6 with audio key-framing not working. Very frustrating. Guess it's back to my other workflows until this gets corrected.

Maybe this is a bit off topic, but I only found my problem described in this tread. If there is a better one any hint or redirection would be appreciated!

Ross Safronoff wrote:I took an audio file and added key frames to do a manual fade out. I have exactly the same problem with version 14.2. And this is not a beta! Obviously nothing has been done to solve that problem. No smooth audio fade out is possible with DaVinci Resolve. To work around that problem I had to manually create a curve with about 5 keyframes, each reducing the volume a bit to a complete mute.

That's everything else than satisfying (besides the terrible instability in working with the latest AMD graphics drivers)! I'm just starting with DaVinci Resolve, testing to find a suitable software, but it's really disappointing, yes frustrating at that point. There is no such trouble with Adobe Premiere, but I found DaVinci's interface more promising and really regret what I find now!

I'm using Win7Home on a Quadcore AMD A10-5800K with 8GB and a AMD Radeon R7 200 with 2GB DDR3.

Well, no answer to a long time existing issue about a not working though most important feature is the sure confirmation that Resolve is a dead product. What a pity! Good luck there are some other good working and, first of all, supported alternatives on the marked. Bye, Resolve!

I am using 16.2.6.005 on my Windows 10 high spec rig and audio crossfades do not work, whatever I try (deleting, replacing, rebooting, starting/ending on cut,you name it). I am sick and tired of hearing the click between clips on export. I came from editing on Premiere and am thinking of going back to it, alas, because I cannot deliver films without working audio crossfades.

Return to DaVinci Resolve
