With Resolve 14 being optimized for NVidia and not AMD; which would be better to use in Resolve 14.

No advice here? What would you do?

Technically, Resolve is optimized for both, employing both CUDA and OpenCL. But to answer your question, I say look at the benchmarks. Then at reliability.

Of the graphics cards I've owned, installed, and serviced, I've seen NVIDIA to be more power efficient, reliable, and just all around faster for the same price.

When CUDA is involved (which is most programs and plugins) NVIDIA wins. When it's OpenCL only, AMD wins.

In your case I'd go with a 1060, maybe two. Or a 1070. And I've found EVGA to be reliable.

Thank you Eddie, So it's sounds like the 1060 might be a better choice for Resolve.

I'm seeing a lot of talk about V14 being heavily optimized for CUDA, but I'm not seeing any talk about doing the same for OpenCL.

The studio version of 14 implements hardware decoding of h264 on NVIDIA cards only. If your workflow involves h264 this is huge.

Not to derail the thread, but for what it's worth, I run Resolve Studio 14 b4 on a 10 year old PC w/ AMD RX 470. It's not very quick, but it is stable and usable with h.264. AMD runs 14 just fine, so if you're not doing a lot of really power hungry work, you can save some money on your GPU. If you're working with a lot of large files and applying a lot of effects, then get the best GPU you can afford.

Thanks guys. Yes my workflow is almost exclusively h.264 media.

Just wasn't sure how 2GB less memory would effect the differences between the two.
