Activating video scopes affecting Decklink output

PostSat May 05, 2018 4:14 pm

I have a Windows 10 system (build 16299) GTX1070 with a decklink 12G and desktop video updated to 10.9.12.

Activating video scopes in the color panel is causing the picture to blank momentarily and when the picture reappears, the black level has a positive offset which cannot be removed. The black level from the 12G card does not agree with what is shown on the scopes, zero is not zero. If the scopes are turned off, the picture can be restored to correct levels, but the node must be reset which also causes the picture to momentarily blank.

This behavior happens regardless of colorspace, output transform etc. The problem can also be seen when using video or full level mode for monitoring.

This does not happen when using the scopes in the media panel.

Not seeing this behavior here.

Can you send us a Diagnostic Log .zip, Windows System Information .NFO and Project Export .drp of a project that exhibits the issue?

Further investigation shows that when activating scopes in DR 15 b2 or b3, the Decklink 12G HDMI output switches modes to from YCbCr to RGB. This does not happen in Version 14. Turning off the scopes and resetting the grade causes HDMI to revert back to YCbCr.

I had a chance to do further testing today on DR 15b4. I confirmed that the issue remains, but I was able to isolate it further. To reproduce the problem seems to require the following combination of conditions:

Windows 10
Decklink 12G - HDMI ouput
3840 x 2160 timeline / monitor

When decoding in RGB mode, the HDMI output is adding 16 CV to the output. This can be triggered by turning on the scopes or by turning on SDI 444. You will also see the picture blanking for a moment when the scopes are turned on and when they are removed and the grading node is reset. The above was confirmed with an HDMI analyzer as the sink device, so the display monitor is not related to the problem.

still there in 15b5.

with scopes on it flick to black when presented a reference still (play still) AND you're in 422 single link.
works normally in 444 dual link.
