WAV and MP3 choppy on playback

I have an issue with WAV and MP3 files.

In the previewer, they play fine. When I render out, they sound fine.

On the Edit screen it stutters. On the Color page, it stutters even more.

On the Fairlight page it plays smooth.

I'm running Resolve 15 b6 on a Microsoft Surface Book, Quad i7 with 16GB RAM, and a 475GB SSD (see AJA test).

I don't know if this is an issue with Resolve or my laptop. I was running the footage on an external USB3 drive, and had the same problem, so I moved the project to my C: drive (SSD) but nothing changed.

The entire project is 1.33GB -- the footage is screen capture using Windows recorder feature (Windows Key + G). The footage seems to play fairly smooth as best as I can tell. Not a lot of motion, so it's hard to gauge.

There's plenty of specs, and I don't have anything crazy running in the bg other than AVAST security in silent mode.

You don’t mention your GPU, which might be insufficient.

It's a Quad Core i7, 8th gen, I believe.

That's not the GPU, but the CPU. Resolve relies heavily on the GPU (graphics processor).

It's an Nvidia GTX1050.

Are you working in HD or more? Could it be that the screen recording doesn't have a fixed frame rate?

They are HD files @ 1712x1080. They were captured using the Windows Key + G recording feature of Windows 10 in the Edge browser. They are MP4 files at about 25.96 fps @ 7994 kbps.

Each file is around 500 MB.

That might be the problem, 25.96 is a really strange frame rate.

Try to transcode your media to a good intermediate and conform to 25 fps.

I'm not familiar with Win+G and the formats it records in, but if you need to transcode for a reasonable fps, could you ensure that your audio is 48KHz constant bit rate LPCM WAV too?

Ok, I can give that a try.

So, the new Beta has fixed this issue. I don't experience it anymore. The video may be choppy if my processor is busy, but the audio plays back fine
