DR 16.3b Loading Waveform Monitor Crash (Windows 10 1903)

PostThu May 23, 2019 2:14 am

I have installed every beta since version 15 and have minor issues but this is the first time I have ever got to the point where I couldn't get DR to load anything past the splash screen. In fact is gets to the Loading Waveform Monitor, pauses for a long time and then just crashes silently (no error message etc).

I am including my system info and the log files but I should also mention that I am on the latest version of Windows 10 (1903) released yesterday, which I loaded one day before I installed 16.3 so that could be the reason I am having loading issues for the first time (living on the edge, as I am). I have made sure I have the latest drivers from AMD and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling DR.

I have included the log file and the system info with this post but I will also include the pertinent stuff here.

Windows 10 64 Bit (1903)
Radeon RX 580 8 GB
Radeon 19.5.2 Drivers
16 GB of System Memory

Actually the files were too big to include with this post so here is a link to them from One Drive.

Can you try to re-install the GPU driver for the AMD GPU? See if you have the latest driver and try to do a clean install, there is an option shown on the initial installation screens.

I am trying that now. I am also going to come back to this thread whether this works or not and write something up on this error.

LoadLibrary failed with error 126: The specified module could not be found.

I have got this error on both my Windows 10 1903 version when trying to uninstall the AMD drivers from the control panel. On one machine I was able to get DR installed and working by fixing that issue. I am trying it on my main computer now. If it works the way it did on the first I will post the steps.

It's possible that error has something to do with Resolve not working after the Windows 10 update.

Each Windows update damaged my nVidia drivers and required that I reinstall the drivers before I could successfully launch Resolve. Perhaps something similar is happening on your system?

User in this thread had a similar issue:

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=91845

He used DDU to clean up all the GPU driver stuff and then installed 19.5.1 and solved his issue.

Your log shows 2 AMD OpenCL GPU's detected, same as the thread above. So his solution hopefully works for you.

Just to make sure, DDU is the piece of software from wagnardsoft.com? I just want to make sure I am not installing a look like program from an un-trusted site etc.

That's correct.

And it will suggest you use it in Safe mode, which seems like a PITA. I've used it without going into safe mode with success, so would suggest not going into safe mode, at least not initially.

Has that same problem and I have the same GPU. Uninstalled al GPU drivers using display card in device manager then selecting software. Rebooted and downloaded the newer drivers I think 25. something After that no problem.

Using DDU to remove and reinstalling drivers and DR fixed the problem for me. I did have to do it twice though because AMD's 19.5.2 drivers were still causing many of my graphics based programs including itself (the AMD settings program) to choke with the "LoadLibrary failed with error 126..." error.

So I am staying with 19.5.1 for a while until they have had some time to work that out. I could be wrong but I think the 19.5.2 drivers have only been out in the wild for a week or so.

Lastly if you run across this post because you get the "LoadLibrary failed with error 126" error pay attention to what Ricardo Marty said in the prior post. You have to use the device manager to uninstall the graphics card while selecting the delete driver software for this device.

NOTE: Using the device manager (as far as I know) is the only option when you have the LoadLibrary error because AMD's built in uninstaller will not start up because it also gets the error.
