[Bug] Next Clip/Edit doesn't work correctly in Edit page

If the Playhead is at the beginning of the timeline and the clip has a gap in front, command "Next Clip / Edit" on the Edit page does not work correctly - it goes to the end of the timeline, not to the beginning of the clip.

Command "Previous Clip / Edit" works fine.

The same is ok on Fairlight page.

I'm seeing the same here in Windows.

For me it occasionally goes to the next clip, but mostly goes to the end of the timeline.

Same thing with Previous->Clip/Edit. It just goes to the beginning of the timeline.

Today's edit session is an exercise in frustration. I'm spending about 50% of my time working around bugs.

I just wanted to add that I too see this error, and I can reproduce it going both to the end and to the start of the timeline in Edit.

This is on Windows:
  1. Use the arrow keys to move to any spot in the timeline
  2. Mark in
  3. Use Up or Down and the marker will jump to the start or the end of the timeline depending on if you press Up or Down.
If you use Next/Prev Clip and get to the In mark on the timeline, the marker will jump to the start (if pressing Prev Clip) or to the end (if pressing Next Clip).

Using any other method to position the marker before you mark In works as expected.

I noticed this bug in my timeline at work using my custom Next Clip/Edit and Previous Clip/Edit hotkeys.

If I have no In/Out points OR the In/Out is on an edit, the Next/Previous works as expected, jumping to the edit. If the In/Out is in the middle of a clip, the hotkeys jump me to the beginning or end of the timeline. I couldn't figure out what was happening and it was freaking me out!

Glad it's not just me.

Experienced editor, newbie to Resolve. Downloaded Free Version and began the tutorials. I've selected Premiere Pro as my keyboard layout but several of the usual PPro key strokes do not work. Not sure if it's a Bug or limitations of Free Trial Version?

Next Clip/Edit is one that does not work so I open Keyboard Customize and I don't see a Next Clip keyboard short cut or a selection that says Next Edit. Keyboard short cuts to Zoom In/Out Timeline does not work. Keyboard short cut to Insert or Overwrite does not work.

I need to be training and editing, not trouble shooting. Just don't have the patience to chase my tail trying to figure out how to make something work as advertised only to find out its a Bug or Limitation of Free Version

My first video edit 47 years ago required a magnifying glass and razor blade, then Sony RM440, then CMX & GVG Computerized Edit Controllers with every tape format known to man. Then Non-Linear D-Vision, AVID, FCP, PPro and now I'm onto DaVinci Resolve. Any recommendations for best training and info about what works and what does not is appreciated.

Updated to 16.1.2 this morning and this bug appears to be [cough] Resolved!

Wow this bug is still there. According to logic keyboards cheatsheet for resolve 17 (https://logickeyboard.com/shortcut/RES162019.pdf) there is a 'Next Clip / Edit' command but doing a search under 'All commands' for 'Next Clip' or 'Next Edit' returns nothing. WTF is going on. I really want to give Resolve a go for this edit but it looks like Resolve does not want me too :-(.

Be nice if a Blackmagic person could comment on this, the issue was raised a year ago and I don't believe ime the only Premiere editor who is going to give up due to this. This is not the key I press the most, play is, but it's there in the top 5.

PS this is in the PP mapping I created.

This is working correctly for me in Studio 17.2.1 for Windows.

That said, Next Clip and Next Edit have been properly separated in version 17. :D They are now correctly two different shortcuts. Up/Down Arrows are the ubiquitous Next/Previous Edit commands. Add the Ctrl modifier for Next/Previous Clip operations.

And that said, the shortcuts do need a little TLC.

Thanks. I can't find the command to map it (under PP keyboard mappings).

I am in keyboard customisation.
On the right bottom Commands panel, I select All commands.
Right of Commands I select Show all in the drop down right of that.
I type 'Next Clip' and 'Previous Cilp' in the text field right of that.
I get nothing returned for either in the panel below.

I am looking in the DaVinci Resolve keyboard shortcuts.

However, if I click on the Up and Down arrows in the keyboard above in the Active Key panel I get Clip shown under Commands against Application.

It works fine under the Resolve keyboard shortcut but I can't find the mapping/how to get this to happen under P keyboard mapping.

So my question is how to map Next Clip/Previous Clip to Up/Down in PP keyboard mappings.

My brain hurts!

Just type 'Clip' (without the quotes) into the Keyboard Customisation window's search field... you should see it listed regardless of your chosen keyboard layout... in the default PP keyboard map Next/Previous Clip is PgDown and PgUp.
