"Flatten Multicam" - Some cuts in the clip wont flatten

PostWed Nov 27, 2019 4:49 pm

Good Morning,

I work with a lot of Multicam Clips and Sometimes when I try to flatten a group of selected multicam cuts in my timeline some cuts wont flatten even though they are the same clip. I searched to see if there were any variations to each cut but did not find anything.

I think this is a bug.

I just ran into this issue on 16.1.1 (macOS). I haven't figured out a decent workaround either.

Following up...I just realized that the clips that wouldn't flatten had retiming applied to the active angle on that part of the edit. The clips that flattened properly were all normal speed clips.

Is this a feature or a bug?

Perhaps there is a re-timing issue/feature. However when I went back to the project a few days later I was able to flatten more clips. So I know my issue is a bug.

Thanks for sharing your insights.

Thanks for this! For me it appears to have been a re-timing issue as well. Returned the clip to 100% speed, copied its attributes, flattened, pasted attributes, and then returned to 40% speed. Just in case anyone else is dealing with this issue!

Would be great if we could flatten and retain these types of adjustments... seems like the software could easily help us save the extra time spent doing grunt work, but maybe there's a technical complication I'm missing? Can anyone from BM speak to this?

Thanks!

Disappointed to find that this issue still exists in Resolve 18.6.4 :(

Multicam is a kind of Compound.

It would be better to Flatten before applying any speed effects.

(Although 18 does have a new feature to transfer such effects to the Flattened clips. Did you try that?)
