anyway to make Fusion Japanese friendly?

PostFri May 25, 2018 8:29 pm

I'm making a video that will have both English and Japanese in it.

The regular text for just Davinici will accept Japanese Text. But I was hoping to use some of the fusion text as I like that better. I can input the text in Japanese but it only shows up as rectangular symbols on the screen. Anyway to make it show up as it should?

thanks

Sometimes issues like that might come down to the font you are using not having Japanese characters included. Try using another font to see if that makes the problem go away.

Are you using Resolve on Mac/Windows/Linux?

On Windows you may have to install the "East Asian Languages Pack" to add Japanese fonts to your computer. From a web search it looks like you would access them in the Settings > Time & Language > Region & Language > Add a Language control panel.

On a Mac system look at using the ".Aqua Kana" font. You can paste this code below into your Nodes view and it will add a text+ node that has the ".Aqua Kana" font setup along with the Japanese characters "こんにちは".

Code: Select all
{
   Tools = ordered() {
      JapaneseAquananaText1 = TextPlus {
         CtrlWZoom = false,
         NameSet = true,
         Inputs = {
            GlobalOut = Input { Value = 119, },
            Width = Input { Value = 1920, },
            Height = Input { Value = 960, },
            UseFrameFormatSettings = Input { Value = 1, },
            ["Gamut.SLogVersion"] = Input { Value = FuID { "SLog2" }, },
            StyledText = Input { Value = "こんにちは\n", },
            Font = Input { Value = ".Aqua Kana", },
            Style = Input { Value = "Regular", },
            Size = Input { Value = 0.2087, },
            ManualFontKerningPlacement = Input {
               Value = StyledText {
                  Array = {
                  },
                  Value = ""
               },
            },
         },
         ViewInfo = OperatorInfo { Pos = { -226.667, 203.121 } },
      }
   },
   ActiveTool = "JapaneseAquananaText1"
}

for some reason I couldn't get back into this forum to post as google seemed to be blocking me. Yes it worked thank you. If you are having trouble like me, try the Mincho or Gothic fonts and they will support Japanese in the fusion text.
