Beta 5 : Fusion & Edit issues

PostSat Jun 16, 2018 12:02 pm

Resolve 15.0.0B.057 (Beta5) : Mac Pro 2013 : 64GB : 10 core : 2 x D700 : RRX

[SOLVED] 1) Pressing L or Space to start playback - then K to Stop moves the edit cursor back the point that playing starts. I was expecting the playhead to stop on the frame that I stopped it.

2) Edit tab : Playback full screen : After playback for a long time .. attempts to cancel full screen no longer work. Quitting does not usually succeed (with 256 or so threads remaining) and you have to Force Quit the application.

3) FUSION : Create a 4K timeline with a 5 second clip (Red R3D 8K) : EDIT tab : Plays fine : Go into FUSION tab and Play -> cause lots of garbage frames. Looks like some sort of GPU memory. No App errors reported.
(attached to the post)

4) FUSION : Same problem with Random Corrupt frames when trying to track an R3D:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread ... ost1811557

Is there anyway to get rid of the corrupt data once its been created (eg to Force FUSION to dump its cache and have another go at processing the data again?).

I have found that for this clip transcoding from an R3D -> to ProRes 4444 XQ allows to play in Fusion without corrupt frames (even though the filesize is over 6 times larger).

For the first issue, right click on the stop button and make sure that the "Stop and go to last position" is unchecked.

Eric,

Thankyou - that was the issue - unchecked and it fixed the problem.

Not sure when it got checked (or if it is on by default).

BM Team,

To reproduce RESOLVE stuck in the FULL SCREEN mode.

1) Edit tab : Put two clips in the Timeline.
2) Colour tab : Stabilise the first clip (eg with Classic tracker)
3) Colour tab : Play first clip -> switch to Full Screen
4) Allow Resolve to finish the first clip and start playing the second.

Thats it - Now resolve is stuck in Full Screen and requires Force Quitting (MacOS).

" Can you describe your system and OS?"

<Updated Signatire>

Footage that causes Fusion to have errors : 8K FF R3D : 10 Frames : File size : 56 MB
(all R3Ds that I have tried has the same issue in Fusion)

Project setup for IPP2 (in the way that you suggested on reduser.net) : 4K

Let me know if there is anything that you want to me to upload (eg the R3D).

Here is a Zoomed in version so you can more easily see the single vertical line of random pixels.

Here is an example of random rows of dots created by the Tracker.

In the second example I reset Track - and the random dots are removed.

It seems to happen every ten - twenty frames.

I found an option in RESOLVE Preferences to perform GPU Processing using 'Metal'.

I get very strange behaviour.

1) If the frame was rendered in the Background ... it looks like there is algorithmic error that slowly turns the image into pink noise (see images below).

2) If you manage to play the frame before the background rendering - sometimes it can display the actual image.

If I am not mistaken - METAL looks faster than OpenCL. It would be fantastic if I could get it to render correctly.

Is there any settings that people have managed to use METAL successfully in Beta5?

Blackmagic : As before if you need any test files - let me know.
(As far as I can tell - this happens with all Red footage)

For those looking for a way to display Red Files with 'Metal' for GPU Processing:

The most error free rendering seems to be when you disable background rendering (image attached).

Delete Clip from Timeline Bug :

+) EDIT TAB : Deleting of a clip from a Timeline with the playhead on the clip sometimes replaces the viewer with the CLIP that was at that position in the PREVIOUS TIMELINE that was displayed.

Last time this occurred:
1) Was editing Timeline 1
2) Selected 8 clips to form Timeline 2
3) Editing Timeline 2
4) Deleted a clip from Timeline 2 .. and clip in that position from Timeline 1 was displayed on the viewer (rather than blank)
