Surface Pro 4 crashing on Color Tab

Latest (as of a few weeks ago) version of Resolve 16 beta works great on my Win 10 Pro desktop but crashes on my Win 10 Surface Pro 4 (512 SSD, 16GB RAM IRIS 540 8GB shared gfx) even on basic tasks like switching to the color tab. Premiere pro works fine. Is this a bug or just onboard graphics limitation? Thanks in advance --Rob

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).


Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

And since you are a new user, you likely can't post URL's. If that's an issue, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't see it as a URL.

You have a one year old Intel graphics driver installed.

There is a new Surface Pro 4 driver package available:

You might try that and see if it helps. Because of the way Microsoft has packaged this update, its impossible for me to tell what Intel graphics driver might be in the new package, if any.

Thanks Dwaine, I had no idea there were new drivers available. I installed them and get the following message now

In the hardware config tab for gfx, there is no option to choose the card. It is set to auto by default but manual does not show any adapters in the list either.

Can you set the GPU processing mode to 'Auto' and restart DaVinci Resolve? The CUDA processing mode is applicable only for Windows and Linux systems with discrete Nvidia graphics cards only.

Resolve does not work in auto. It only gives that error about the graphics configuration and exits.

If anyone else experiences this, the latest update works. I was able to set it to "auto" and it opened successfully. I haven't edited much yet but it seems better now.
