Render job failed - clip could not be processed

PostFri Sep 13, 2019 3:38 pm

I have exported drafts of this project many times. 8 to be exact. I am not getting the error below:

Render Job 12 failed as the current clip could not be processed.
The clip could not be decoded correctly. Please check if the clip is still available on the drive.

The clip in question is part of a Fusion comp. I went in and deleted it's media input and put it back. I can scrub through the footage and it even plays in the edit and color tab. It is a BRaw file as is all the other footage in this project.

I am on 16. Beta 2

I have had numerous render failures from the various resolve versions. All but a couple rendered just fine after closing Resolve, rebooting Resolve, and re processing the render. Won't work for all situations, but might be worth a try.

I also get render job failed. I have a fusion 3D title that won't render out. Still same issue in Beta 3.

Yeah, I've had this problem since they added h265 export. I thought it was my hardware since I never saw anyone else complain about it. Ah, sweet vindication!

Can you please capture your logs after the render failure and send it to us. Please also attach your exported project so it can help us reproduce the issue here.

I was able to render my video after 3 hours of trying to figure out what was wrong... It looked to be where ever the render crashed, is where I included a "Freeze Frame" clip. After I going back and removing them, I was able to render my video. Hope that helps anyone else stuck!

Same problem.
The fusion clip is rendered when I use the "render cache". Then if I check "use rendered media" my job goes through.
But I don't want tu use rendered media...

I've had this error 4 times today, not on the beta but on version 16.1. It's a bit of a nightmare as we're trying out DaVinci for a BBC documentary and I am supposed to deliver a rough cut today and the render is 2 hours and fails every time.

This is like using Avid in 1997, with unidentified output errors that jeopardise TX.

Hi,

Had this issue with very easy render (my PC was putting out 180 fps) since 16.1 betas.

When I limited render speed to 100 fps, the problem never occured again.

Maybe worth trying.

Re: Render job failed - clip could not be processed

PostFri Nov 15, 2019 12:18 pm

Hello:

This just happened to me... but not with a Fusion comp, but with a Sony A7S clip.

If I add to my edit the last 2 or 3 seconds of the clip (so that there's only 1 or 2 frames between the OUT point and the end of the clip), the render fails saying: "The clip could not be decoded correctly. Please check if it's still available on the drive".

If I change the edit points and pick a fragment from the middle of the clip, there are no problems.

The clip, as mentioned, is an XAVC-S H264 clip from a Sony A7S. Now, I have read about the problem with XAVC clips in the free version (which I'm using), but what's odd is that the rest of the project is also shot with the same camera, and I don't have any problems with any other clip except this one.

I'm on Resolve 16.1.1 free version, on a AMD Threadripper 1920 with a Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti card.

If you guys want it, I can make the clip available to you.

Same here, trying to Render a 4k 60fps clip in a 30fps timeline and getting the error message. Funny thing is that I select the "render this clip" the clip renders with no problem..

I had to create an account just to add another "same here" to the choir.

I'm editing a 1080p OBS screen recording, I put a text on it, then a Fusion Composition underneath the text, and 10/10 times I get the "current job could not be processed" error. Here's a screenshot: https://is.gd/v2CYt4

My system is:

DaVinci Resolve 16.1.1.005
Core i7 8700
RTX 2060
32 GB RAM
MSI B360 Gaming Plus

The infuriating part is that last night I successfully exported the exact same scenario on another 1080p OBS screen recording. Blackmagic, please keep this issue in mind for the next update.

Cheers!

Similar situation her when exporting individual clips, gets to 99% complete on the first clip and then just hangs with no message.

I'm in the middle of an intense work marathon, where I have to finish 12 videos in 10 days, and I simply cannot afford the time to go back to 16.0. Random issues with fusion clips not rendering have also started to crop up.

No one from the Support crew will say anything about these issues?

I had the same problem today. After trying a lot of things, I realized the clip had a drop. Qhen I cut that part of the clip the problem disappeared and exported ok. Luckily I had a copy with that part of the clip without the drop to use.

I'm also having this issue and it's driving me bananas! This version is so riddled with bugs, it's virtually unusable. Emailing bug reports is of no use as they refer me to the forums, but then there's no one to monitor the forums for this information.

I really want to buy the Studio version, but given that BMD's customer support is seriously lacking, I'm forced to hold off until I am sure that it's not a wasted investment.

I don't know, man. I updated to 16.1.2 not really hoping for anything, and it was just as well. I'm creating a new, blank project, I place a simple text and a Fusion composition from the Toolbox, try to export it - bam, same error.

Super, super WTF.

It wouldn't have been as bad if that feature was Studio-only. Right now it just feels like it's broken.

Unfortunately facing the same problem when using Mocha Pro plugin in Fusion or Resolve.
DR16.1.2
Win 10
64 gb Ram
Nvidia GTX 1070
i7 8700
If I deselect the option stop render when a clip cannot be processed which then gives me a wrong effect where mocha is supposed to work. The remove part appears and disappears so it is not working as it is supposed.

I am also getting this error randomly on a ~1 minute long video. It always happens at the very last frame of the timeline where there is no video on the timeline, just music. My timeline consists of 2 .braw 4k clips and about 15 photographs. No Fusion effects. I rendered about 50 of these same sequences in 16.1.1 without any problems. The error started after updating to 16.1.2

If I clear the render status and start it again it usually will complete without a problem.

I get this error when trying to do something extremely simple. I dragged some clips onto a new project timeline and tried to render. That is it, no editing at all. The clips came from a DJI Osmo action camera set to 1080 60 (MP4 files).

The file that the error message mentions plays just fine and each time I try to render it errors on a different file. I tried editing at 50 fps and same result. This is a fairly high spec computer.

Any ideas?

Come on, BMD, what the hell? At least give us a statement.

It is impossible to render a Fusion clip, among other things. https://i.imgur.com/Ku8MxET.png

That's on 16.1.2.026, on a fresh Windows 10 Pro N installation on a new Samsung 970 Evo 1TB NVMe SSD. Such a shame to not be able to add a simple Fusion clip. :<

First day with Studio, and I can add myself to the club.
In my case it's a single graded UHD video of 25 minutes, 'h265 master' preset.
After attempt 3 it self-quit even without bug report.
After re-opening it's working now.

Hey everyone, try going to preferences>user>UI> UN-CHECK "stop renders when a frame or clip cannot be processed" that worked for me.

Or check this video:

This actually worked for me?! I just tried it on a photo + fusion clip and some text, literally 30 frames in total, but it still worked.

Can't wait to try it out on a proper project.

Upgraded to 16.1.2 Studio today, I always tend to delay upgrading but thought it was perhaps okay by now.
I had this exact Render issue, but your solution has worked, cheers. Just a shame BMD can't be bothered to comment on it.

Re: Render job failed - clip could not be processed

I had this same problem while rendering an animation that contained scripts. I was able to watch that on the viewer, but couldn't render. My solution was pretty simple, I set my cached files to high quality and then I got back to fusion tab, right clicked the mediaout node and chose "cache to disk", then I played the animation once till it is cached and once I was back to the deliver page, down in the video options, I selected advanced settings/ use render cached images. Then, send it to render again and the problem was gone :) I think it works every time your are in a situation which you can playback your clips but cant render them. I hope it helps.

same same problem

Quite infuriating. 5 minutes of GoPro holiday footage that I finished the colour grade on and now getting these render failures.

From my tests, it looks like the noise Reduction and the Dehaze OFX are the issues. Disabling both of these allows the render to progress until it comes to another random clip with the same NR/Dehaze nodes.

Incidentally, all the clips have NR and most have Dehaze.

-----------------

OK, at least I eventually got it fixed - the copy/paste to new project was a failure for me.

What I ended up doing was to move the offending clip out of the timeline and then located it in the media pool. I drag the in/out points from the media pool and into the timeline - essentially the same snippet from the media. I copied the offending clip and pasted all attribures to the newly dragged one. I did the same by also applying the grade from the offfending clip to the new one.

So basically I've recreated the problematic clip with a fresh copy. I needed to do that to another 2 clips.

The full render completed without any problem. Maybe those clips in the timeline had been corrupted or something. No idea.
-----------------

Looks like a bug so hopefully, something gets done about. I'm glad my livelihood doesn't depend on my holiday vids :)

Re: Render job failed - Timeline of Timelines

PostSat Feb 29, 2020 7:09 pm

I have created two complex timelines, TL1 and TL2 each with multiple Fusion Clips, multiple Composite clips and in many cases, 10 or more tracks.
Each of these will Render OK and create an mp4 file.

I then created a new timeline, TL3 and dragged the other two timelines on to it end to end, making 4 clips in all. V and A for TL1 and V and A for TL2.

I cannot Render TL3. It just causes DR to disappear from the screen but still leaves a picture on my monitor connected by my interface card.
I need to Restart my PC to get Resolve working again.

Has anyone successfully exported a Timeline made up of timeline clips?

I was in this situation.
The helpful support guys at BMD advised me to upgrade to the latest NVIDEA driver 442.19 which made no difference and then reduce the Render Speed. It was set to Maximum and I changed it to 50 and it has not failed to export since. I also tried it at 75 - same result.
This Render Speed setting is on the Deliver Page under the File tab (next to the Audio tab).

I usually export the timeline separately in an intermediate file then do the master form there....

I’m not a fan of encapsulate timelines...
